Translate Word document

Microsoft has introduced a new feature for Microsoft Copilot in the Word application, enabling users to translate documents or paragraphs into other languages using AI functionalities. This feature leverages Microsoft Translator services in Microsoft Azure, ensuring that user data is not stored by Microsoft for training purposes. Users can select content and use the Copilot icon to prompt translations, which can be applied to sections or entire documents. The translated text is inserted below the original content, providing immediate results.

 

While the translation feature works well for most text, there are some issues with translating tables, where HTML code may appear. Additionally, it is currently not possible to use chat in Microsoft 365 Copilot to translate documents directly. Instead, users can generate descriptions in the target language. Despite these limitations, the integration of Copilot’s translation capabilities is expected to improve soon, enhancing the overall functionality and user experience in document translation.
